Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about renting a tuk tuk in Sri Lanka.

What driving licence do I need to rent a tuk tuk in Sri Lanka?

You need three documents: your home-country driving licence, a physical International Driving Permit (IDP), and a Sri Lankan AAC Recognition Permit. We arrange the Sri Lankan permit for you before you arrive — just send us a photo of your IDP after booking.

How much does tuk tuk rental in Sri Lanka cost?

Rentals start from $14 per day for the Classic Tuk. The Convertible Tuk is from $20/day and the Electric Tuk from $25/day. Every price includes full insurance, unlimited kilometres, a driving lesson, permit assistance and 24/7 support — no hidden fees.

Is insurance included?

Yes. Every rental includes standard motor insurance covering you, your passengers, the vehicle and third parties. An optional Peace of Mind upgrade reduces your excess to $0.

Can you deliver the tuk tuk to my hotel?

Yes — we deliver island-wide to 29+ locations including Negombo, Colombo, Galle, Mirissa, Ella, Kandy, Sigiriya, Arugam Bay and Jaffna. Delivery fees depend on distance from our Negombo base, starting free in Negombo.

Can I pick up in one city and drop off in another?

Absolutely. One-way rentals are available between any two locations in our network. Tell us your preferred drop-off at least 2 days before your end date.

Is it hard to drive a tuk tuk?

Most people are confident within 30 minutes. Your rental includes a hands-on driving lesson at your hotel covering the controls, road rules and local driving culture. The Electric Tuk is automatic — the easiest option for new drivers.

What happens if the tuk tuk breaks down?

Every tuk tuk carries a full tool kit and spare wheel, and our support team is on WhatsApp 24/7. For anything you can't fix roadside, we arrange assistance or direct you to a service centre — wear-and-tear repairs are covered.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

We keep upfront costs minimal — your booking is confirmed with payment via Stripe or PayPal, and our insurance means no large security deposit is required.
